Specificity is the spark that brings improv to life. It’s the key to creating distinct characters, rich relationships, and scenes that truly go somewhere. Yet, we’ve all been in those moments where everything feels flat—you're playing a vague character in an undefined space, and the scene lacks direction or purpose.

In this two-day workshop, we’ll dive deep into making specific choices that add clarity, depth, and emotional stakes to every scene. You’ll learn how verbal and physical details can define your characters, shape their relationships, and create vivid worlds to explore.

What you'll do:

• Use specifics at the very start of a scene to ignite the action.
• Use details to infuse our choices with meaning and purpose.
• Notice and build on your scene partner’s choices to create a cohesive world.
• Perform a ton of scenes to practice and refine these skills!

While this workshop focuses on short scene work, the techniques you’ll learn can be applied to all styles of improv.

BATS Improv Class Refund Policy

• If you cancel more than 96 hours (4 days) before a class begins, we will refund your tuition less a 15% processing fee.
• If you cancel within 96 hours (4 days) of your first class, or any time after your first class session, your tuition will be forfeit.

In the event that we cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, we’ll refund your tuition in full.
